Shweta pushpo pashobhitaa
Shwetaambara dharaa nityaa
Shweta gandhaanu lepana
You are the Goddess Who is seated on a white-lotus, You are decorated with white flowers, You are adorned with a white dress, You are eternal, and You are applied with white-paste
Shwetaaksha sutra hasta cha
Shweta chandan charchitaa
Shweta veena dharaa shubhraa
Shweta alankaara bhushitaa
You hold white-rosary seed string and You are applied with white-sandalwood paste; You hold a white Veena, You are blissful, and You are decorated with white ornaments
Yaa kundendu tushaara haara dhavalaa, Yaa shubhra vastraa vrithaa
Yaa veena vara dandamanditakara, Yaa shwetha padmaasana
Yaa brahma achyutha shankara prabhritibhir, Devai sadaa vanditaa
Saa maam paatu Sarasvati Bhagavati, Nihshesha jaadyaapahaa
May Goddess Saraswati, who is fair like the jasmine-colored moon, and whose pure white garland is like frosty dew drops; who is adorned in radiant white attire, on whose beautiful arm rests the veena, and whose throne is a white lotus; who is surrounded and respected by the Gods, protect me. May you fully remove my lethargy, sluggishness, and ignorance.

Vidya arambham karishyaami siddhir bhavatu may sada
Oh! Goddess Saraswati, my humble prostrations unto Thee, who is the fulfiller
of all wishes. I start my studies with Thy worship and always pray for success.

O mother, I prostrate before you, the very source of learning,
do keep your protective shields always around me
