 The holy occasion of Navratri has once again arrived, bringing with it the blessings of the Universal Goddess. She is the energy (shakti) that runs this world. She is worshipped in her three most dynamic forms as the giver of strength and remover of darkness, Maha Kali, she is the one who provides for sustenance as Maha Lakshmi, she who inspires and leads as Maha Sarasvati.

.jpg) The festive spring festival was once again celebrated by devotees with great pomp and revelry. On the evening of Vasant Panchami, the celebration began with the planting of the traditional castor oil tree. We commend Baba and Bunty for keeping the fast for 40 days. As the weeks went by, everyone was preparing for the most anticipated full moon night where the holika will be set alit and hence start the colorful festival. Traditional songs (chowtaals, dhamaari, ulara, belvara etc.) were sung.
We bring you a glimpse of what took place at Sri Krishna Mandir. Hopefully you and your family can join us in our celebration of Holi which is truly an experience at the Sri Krishna Mandir.

 The Hindu Society of Berbice, Sri Krishna Mandir successfully completed it's Diwali Seva for the year 2006. Through our generous supporters in Guyana, USA, and Canada we were able to serve over 30 communities and over 350 families received grocery hampers. "Daan" - Charity is one of the pillars of Sanatan Dharma. This year more noble minded people were inspired to get involved in our Diwali Seva. Generous donations were made during Navratri celebration in Richmond Hill, New York by the congregation at the New York Hindu Milan Mandir, soon many supporters sent their donations and from the pictures you'll see where the funds went. We would like to thank all those who supported this project and a hearty thank you for your financial and moral support.

 Shubha Deepavali - Happy Deepavali on behalf of the executives and members of The Hindu Society of Berbice, Sri Krishna Mandir.
This holiday is not only associated with a much festive atmosphere where people exchange gifts and celebrate with lighting rows of diyas decorating their homes and businesses, it's the holy occasion of worshiping and adoring the Goddess Maha Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity. |
