Shubh Navratri
Friday, 12 October 2007
ImageThe time has arrived for the worship of the Almighty in the feminine aspect - Supreme Goddess Durga.

In the Srimad Bhagvad Gita Sri Krishna states: "Pita-mahasya jagato mata" "I am the supreme father and mother of this world." Worship and adoration to the Supreme in the form of the almighty father is practiced by every major world religion, with the exception of Sanatan Dharma which has recognized the Supreme as having both the paternal and maternal affection for it's creation. Fathers will sympathize their children but mothers will empathize, one will feel for while the other will feel with cause we are a product of her being.

Maa Durga is the power responsible for creation, sustenance, and destruction. She possesses the qualities of goddesses Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi, and Maha Saraswati. She is Shakti, power which is the single most important entity for any being to survive, achieve and excel. With Her grace the impossible becomes possible. Devotees with full faith and love will shower their gratitude to Her in to acquire Her blessings.

Worship of Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi and Maha Saraswati will be done, these three goddesses combined represents Maa Aadi Shakti Durga - the one who dispels distress and sorrow. Adoration will also be done to Her nine forms as we realize these divine qualities within:

1) Sri Shailaputri………daughter of the mountain, symbolic of faith, which should be unshakable and unmovable.
2) Sri Brahmacharini….she who advocates education and celibacy (self control)
3) Sri Chandraghanta…she who advocates steadiness of the mind like the stillness of the moon.
4) Sri Kushmaanda…….she who provides like the wide earth giving it’s vegetation
5) Sri Skandamata……..she who adores her children. A reminder to the mothers of world about their pride possession, Mamta – motherly compassion.
6) Sri Kaatyayini………she who fulfils the noble desires of her devotees. Those desires which will benefit all.
7) Sri Kaalraatri……….she who dispels the darkness of ignorance and reminds us on how to use our precious time.
8) Sri Maha Gauri…….she who is golden in complexion and reminds her children of their inner beauty
9) Sri Siddhidhatri…….she reminds us that once we have the will we can achieve. Let the will be noble, let the actions be noble and world of spiritual wealth will be in your lap
